Thinking about “Urban development, food and health” with Tomoya Kumagai, representative of SLOGAN
When our representative, Mr. Yoshida returned to Japan, he met with Mr. Tomoya Kumagai, a genius editor of SLOGAN Corporation, a publishing, editing, and artist management company. He took us to the famous Chinese restaurant “Ryu-kon-shu-ka” which he had interviewed, and we talked about many things. Owner-chef Sachi Ishibashi’s cuisine is exquisite and is based on the food of the First Emperor, who sought eternal life, after many years of research and study. We also had plenty of Shaoxing wine, but we did not feel bad at all. The next day, I felt rather healthy. It seems that Chinese herbal medicine and other ingredients are well incorporated.
Why did I decide to share this story here? Because I believe that Asia is full of wonderful recipes for urban development based on such traditional wisdom. Some of you may be thinking, “Town planning?” I know that some of you may be thinking, “What’s a city where people can live a healthy life? From this perspective, I think that the presence of such restaurants and eateries is one of the characteristics of a great city. Urban development is not just about the size of the streets, the number of buildings, their design, or the number of parks. It is about how healthy, lively, and enjoyable life is for the people living there. I think it is about how healthy, lively, and enjoyable the people living there can be.
This is a store that I really don’t want to tell people about. It’s been a long time since I discovered it. And thank you, Mr. Kumagai. I hope you all will join us next time.
