Promotion

An online business meeting and event by JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) Gunma to promote Gunma Prefecture’s food products to “vegans,” strict vegetarians in Europe.

We collaborated with food coordinators to develop a menu using Gunma’s sake and ingredients. We also coordinated the European members participating in the event and business meeting. We also introduced a business negotiation style that accommodates the Corona disaster, such as delivering food using the ingredients to local business partners.

This initiative was also reported in the Nikkei Inc. https://www.nikkei.com/article/DGXZQOFB216740R20C21A1000000/

WHY

The purpose of the event is to introduce dishes made with Japanese ingredients that are highly compatible with vegetarianism, such as tofu and miso, along with sake to European consumers, whose interest in “sustainable food” is growing year by year.

FOCUS

In Europe, interest in “sustainable food” is growing year by year, as more and more people are adopting not only vegetarian diets but also vegan diets, which are considered to be more strictly vegetarian. At the same time, interest in Japanese foodstuffs such as tofu and miso, which are highly compatible with vegetarianism, is also increasing.

OUTCOME

On February 2-3, 2021, we prepared vegan meals using Gunma ingredients on site and delivered them to each of our business partners. The journey was 500 km, and despite the restrictions of the Corona regulation, we had the participants taste the food on the spot as much as possible to get feedback from them. One week after the delivery, we held an online business meeting between the local business partners and the Gunma business.
