Seminar – Nordic Urban Visions –
Nordic Urban Visions: Making Japanese Cities Greener
BLOXHUB × Mitsubishi Estate Regenerative Community Tokyo
2025.09.29
On September 29, 2025, we hosted a joint event titled “Nordic Urban Visions: Making Japanese Cities Greener” at Tokyo Innovation Base (TiB) in Yurakucho. This event was co-organized by our partner, BLOXHUB, and Regenerative Community Tokyo (RCT), which is operated by Mitsubishi Estate.
For this event, we invited special guests: the CEO of Gehl Architects, a Danish urban design consultancy, and the Managing Director of Snøhetta, an international architecture and design firm based in Oslo, Norway. By looking at the latest urban development examples from the Nordic region and around the world, we explored ideas on how Japanese cities can become more vibrant and sustainable.
WHY
In the past, RCT held closed events only for its member companies. However, because we want to help create a regenerative society, we decided to share our efforts with a wider audience. Therefore, we organized this as our first open public event.
FOCUS
Our focus was to create an opportunity for people to hear directly from experts working at the forefront of global urban development. Thanks to the excitement surrounding Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai, we were able to welcome speakers who are usually difficult to invite to Japan.
PROCESS
Through close discussions with the BLOXHUB and RCT teams, we managed the speaker selection, venue booking, and the design of the schedule and agenda. We also put a strong effort into promoting the event to reach as many participants as possible.
OUTCOME
The event welcomed over 100 attendees, mainly industry professionals with a strong interest in sustainability and urban development. The panel discussion and Q&A session sparked active conversations. It was a practical learning opportunity where participants did not just learn about overseas examples, but also compared them with the current situation of urban development in Japan.
